Call me a hopeless romantic, but I liked the movie. Critics panned the movie as a waste of time. But I have to be honest I enjoyed every moment of watching the movie. The romance and the coming together and I must add there was suspense, as I kept wondering who will end up with who. Who was looking for whom?
Don’t know why it took me this long to watch this movie, but I am glad I finally did.

The more does boast of fantastic acting by the cast and a cool get together. The lighting was sweet to watch as it did portray the New Year well, also enjoyed the cameos.

The movie is a Valentine’s Day look alike and set – up, since both it and Valentine’s Day were directed by Garry, he didn’t even bother to change anything. It was more like watching Valentine’s Day but with a new cast and a new holiday, although Valentine’s Day was not a holiday.

Another flaw from this “Valentine’s Day” look alike is the aspect of the suspense, yes in this one you are left guessing, but in Valentine’s Day you conclude at first then your mouth is ajar when you discovered that you were wrong, making the movie a mighty must watch.

Garry has had his hands on some notable films in his days (he is still alive mind you), Pretty Woman, Runaway Bride(both starred Julia Roberts, also Valentine’s Day also had Julia as one of the ensemble cast), and I can bet he still has some more to dish out.

Having more than two dozen stars in one film to me is taking it too far and should not be done often but Garry did it twice back to back, I am hoping he won’t try that this year.

But to end it here…because the plot of the movie is more like Valentine’s Daythe characters are all intertwined so from the beginning to the end all the cast kind of cross each other which is a plus to the writers.

So it is up to you if you are ready to watch a movie that there is no depth nor story build up, just a bunch of people running around and running into each other all in the name of fulfilling the hope of love, dreams, aspirations and second chances. I do advise you see this movie, it was fun.

  1. Oh my goodness, I am such a hopeless romantic and I love watching a good love story. I get butterflies in my stomach. I haven't watched New Years Eve yet but all my co-workers at Dish have told me I should watch it. They said it was a cute movie so I was pretty excited to find out it was available to rent on Blockbuster @Home. It arrived in the mail yesterday so this weekend I am planning on watching it, luckily I don't have to return it right away. I have read a few reviews disliking it but I still want to watch it. I'll let you know what I think about it.
