The only thing I enjoyed in Episode II was seeing Yoda take on Count Dooku. Other than that, Episode II was boring to me. I even found myself preferring the more lackluster script and plot of Episode I to this one. I think it’s mostly because of Liam Neeson’s wonderful performance in Episode I that made me prefer it over this movie. In Episode II, all I saw was the Dark Lord getting more control over the Senate, and Anakin getting closer to Padmé.

Due to the negative reviews that Episode I got, Lucas worked and reworked the script for this movie to present a better Star Wars film that everyone would like. The annoying Jar Jar Binks was sidelined in this movie, with only a few lines—he spoke maybe three times. The most cinematic experience in this new trilogy is the battle between CGI Yoda and 78-year-old Christopher Lee (that was his age at the time of filming). From that point, you’ll come to respect Yoda as others do.

The movie picks up 10 years after the events of Episode I, with some planets threatening to break away from the Republic. Former Queen of Naboo and now Senator, Padmé is sent to the Senate by the new Queen of Naboo. On her way to the Senate, an assassination attempt is made on her life. Young Anakin Skywalker and his mentor Obi-Wan Kenobi are assigned to protect her, with Anakin watching over her and Obi-Wan investigating who was behind the assassination attempt.

During their duty, Anakin and Padmé become close, and Obi-Wan stumbles upon a larger plot that could lead to civil war.

The movie had an overlong story, and the dialogue was boring. Since I was watching it at home, I had to pause and walk off to avoid falling asleep. The acting was horrible—I just couldn’t believe it. Hayden Christensen, who plays Anakin Skywalker, Obi-Wan's gifted Padawan apprentice, gave a sad and dull performance. I couldn’t wait for his screen time to end each time. His romantic relationship with Padmé felt forced—she just fell in love like that? It was outrageous.

I disliked Attack of the Clones and really preferred the first movie. The movie did make its money, but not as much as the first one, and also didn’t make as much as the last one in this second trilogy of the Star Wars saga. Again, I didn’t like this movie at all.
