If you want or are in the mood to see a bad movie, here’s one I recommend—because using the word “bad” alone doesn’t justify how I felt after watching it. Not only is this movie bad (i.e., not even worth writing about), it doesn’t leave you with anything to remember once you’re done viewing.

The Turtles franchise was facing an end, with Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II: Secret of the Ooze (1991) not being as much of a hit as the first movie. Then, the producers decided to make matters worse by making this movie. What was wrong with Secret of the Ooze was the removal of the dark tone of the first part. The second part was all about jokes and the Turtles were dumbed down martial art wise.

It sucks—badly. The dialogue is lame and out of place, the costumes of the turtles are the worst of all three movies, and the voice casting…??? Words aren’t enough to explain why the voice casting was terrible. It just was. I remember back then, the main attraction to this movie was that Casey Jones (Elias Koteas) would be in it. With Elias in it and Paige Turco back as April, you’d think nothing could go wrong. Boy, was I surprised.

Everything that could go wrong with this movie did.

The movie plot has our turtles travel back in time to save April, who was mistakenly sent back in time when she handled a magical scepter she bought at a flea market. Basically, that’s it for the plot.

The movie kind of put a full stop on Turtle movie ideas for a long time, although the cartoon series carried on. Then, in 2007, another Turtle movie was made, continuing from the events of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II: Secret of the Ooze. That movie, too, wasn’t a critical or commercial success.

This movie is bad with a capital “B.” I feel so much like purging my brain because I’ve seen this movie—a purging I’ll try to do by watching another movie I know will be good.

The 2007 Turtle movie was named TMNT, and it was an animation.

In conclusion, if you’re in the Turtle craze and feel like catching a movie of your one-time favorite heroes again, then watch Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles I or Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II: Secret of the Ooze—or just watch the TV series. Don’t even try or consider seeing this movie; the stain is hard to remove.
