Well for me to say you won’t enjoy this movie… is a lie. You will, I can say for certain that this is an ok sequel to Kung fu Panda 1.
Dreamworks brought back the old voice cast and changed the director and the screenplay writers. Jonathan Aibel & Glenn Burger (the new screenplay writers) take us on a journey in to Po’s past and also how he was able to master kung fu with easy to defeat the new threat.
Kung Fu Panda 2 is a 2011 3D computer animated film and it is directed by Jennifer Yuh Nelson who was in charge of the story in the first Kung Fu Panda movie. It was also a commercial success making $ 665 million from its 150 million budget surpassing the original film which made 631 million.
Kung fu Panda 2 was nominated for the 2012 Academy Award for Best Animated Feature, which it lost to Rango.
The story line goes, Po and the Furious Five have to defend the Valley of Peace from a new threat, Lord Shen, an albino peacock banished by his parents many years ago for his evil desires. Shen has returned with a technology which he intends to use to end kung fu and conquering China. So the Dragon warrior and the Furious Five embark to destroy the weapon. Po is then taken to a path that leads him to his lost childhood and how he ended up with the goose as his dad and also Lord Shen is somehow linked to his lost childhood.
I had a few good laughs in the movie, but the dark path in which the movie took didn’t do it for me. I hope Dreamworks won’t kill the franchise like they did Shrek. I really prefer the 1st Kung fu panda to this and other than the peacock’s fighting style the movie was all...Gba…gbos…up in the air, crash boom.
It was a fun movie though and will advice all to go see it, not a strong story line from my view, as the movie presents the seen it all before somewhere familiarity, and the idea of making Po stupid not to know that the goose wasn’t his real dad??? Come on, we all saw Tarzan even he thought he was different. I still feel the dialogues could have been better but that is my view, why not go see it and tell me yours.
A sequel, Kung Fu Panda 3 is scheduled to be released in 2016 and it will be directed again by Jennifer Yuh Nelson.
