Sleepless in Seattle is arguable one of the best romantic movies of the 90s. The whole setup is innocent, sweet and just lovable. The characters are magical and the movie just reignites the idea of love in you. The movie is a smile fest, you will have a smile plastered over your face althrough this movie and wish for no better love tale for yourself.

Meg Ryan did some amazing love tales in the late 80s and 90s that when she dropped from the spotlight. When Harry Met Sally (1989) is one of the best romantic movies you can ever see, and they she was cast along side Billy Crystal. Here she works with Tom Hanks and together they made one of the best romantic coupling you could wish for.

The movie plot starts with Tom Hanks Character Sam with his son Jonah by a grave site where Sam’s wife is buried. Everyone is worried for Sam, including his son. Sam doesn’t seem to have a clue what to do with life after his wife passing and he believes it is best for him to move to another state to be able to deal with the pain.

His movie to Seattle did not make any much difference in his life, as he is always awake struggling to get along. His son worried for his father called a radio show to speak with a Doctor, who helps people in their relationship struggles. This call is what brought Sam’s existence to everyone.
Sam was made to speak for long on phone to the Doctor on the radio show and women across America were interested in him.

On the other side we have Annie (Meg Ryan), who is getting married to a man whom she finds stability with. She hears the call and it makes her want what Sam had with his wife and she starts to doubt if Walter the man she is to marry will be right for her.

The things that brings these two together are Annie’s best friend who along with every other lady who found Sam interesting sent him a letter. Annie’s letter was sent in her name by her friend. Jonah sees this letter and wants her for his father, even though Sam is now dating one of the ladies whose letter he found interesting. Jonah wrote back to Annie using his father’s name and from then on… you have to see this movie again to remember.

After the credits starts to roll in you wish you could get a glimpse of what life was after they met. You want to see how they are getting along, did they have children?
But that is the power of this movie, it leaves everything to your imagination as we see them descend on the elevator in the Empire State Building.
The movie was a critical and commercial success and it was the second time Meg and Tom worked together. The movie’s screenplay earned both an Academy Awards and BAFTA nomination. The film then got it's place in the AFI's 10 Top 10 as number 10 in Romantic Comedy Film category.

We all know that Tom Hanks has for years been on top of the world in his movie career, I just wish the same could have been said of Meg Ryan. You should see Sleepless in Seattle again to just have the spirit of love awoken again in you.
