Let’s Do It Again (1975)

7/10

Starring:
Sidney Poitier
Bill Cosby

Directed by: Todd Sidney Poitier

Distributed by: Warner Bros.

It doesn’t get any better than the 70’s with Bill Cosby and Sidney Poitier, this movie has not much of stunts all it has is plain old acting with comic dialogues and impossible events made possible by characters that seem to be a mash up of Einstein and dumber and dumber.
"Let’s do it again" is the second pairing between Cosby and Poitier and it was directed by Poitier himself.

The movie has all it needs to keep you laughing all through, with the wise cracks by Bill Cosby.
The Plot is about the two characters Clyde Williams (Sidney Poitier) and Billy Foster (Bill Cosby) desire to raise money for their fraternal lodge by rigging a boxing match.

How did they do that?

Poitier was a hypnotist and he just worked his magic on the boxer that was set to lose and it all turned around for them, their lodge and their lives.
But the pair on their way to the huge financial success stepped on toes, the toes of two bookies that want to get their money back and tracked the pair to their home.

What makes movies done in 70's so cool was that you can hardly give the director much credit because most of the work was done by the artist themselves.
Not saying that Poitier didn’t do a good work directing this movie, because the scenes were so nicely crafted that you have to be a powerful director and a good enough actor to pull it off.

110 minutes is a long time to keep you interested in a movie with no special effects, no green background technology or robots. May I add no cursing, but the length of the movie just plays out as you are glued to watching this two try to be smarter than everyone else.

Facts about this movie that you may not know is that, one of the antagonists in the movie was named Biggie Smalls a name The Notorious B.I.G took as his alias.

This movie also has John Amos as one of the “bad guy” he took the role of one of the bookies that Cosby and Poitier crossed.

If you are a fan of the oldies or a fan of a good laugh, go watch this movie it is a guaranty good laugh, with masterful acting by the First Black Man to win an Academy Award Sidney Poitier.
