And tell me what you feel
The Muppets (2011)
6/10

Jason Segel
Amy Adams
Chris Cooper
Rashida Jones
Directed by: James Bobin
Distributed by: Walt Disney Pictures
This movie is Disney’s guilt trip to the cinemas, who never loved the Muppets? I practically grew up on the Muppet show and I, like many others had to wait 12 years for another Theatrical Muppet movie.
Written by Jason Segel who also stars in it, this guilt trip to the cinema has enough drama and fun to keep you glued.
After years of mastery and then losing it Disney (with the help of Kermit and the gang) finally did a movie that the music intervals weren’t distant from the scenes themselves.
When Disney bought the Muppet franchise from Jim Henson in 2004, I was curious like many others what will become of our beloved Kermit, gonzo, and others. After seeing this even Jim Henson where ever he is right now will be happy to know they are in safe hands.
The movie is very dramatic, not something we are used to when it comes to the Muppets, but this paid off because the drama added the needed effect, for a grand ending. Directed by James Bobin (who helped create characters like Ali G and Borat), who took this movie by the neck and led it down the right path, using all the tricks known to Muppet fans to keep you attached to the screen and not feel you are watching hand puppets, but get carried away in the drama. This has to be given credit, because we are in days when everything has to be CGI and 3D, we have a movie using puppets to play the same purpose and it didn’t suck. The trick (my opinion) I think was Bobin kept us all hooked on the drama and focus on the task at hand that you forget you are watching puppets.
The task at hand was to save the Muppet Theater from being destroyed by Tex Richman
(Chris Cooper), in other to do so they had to raise $10,000,000. The plot to destroy the theater was discovered by the greatest Muppet fan Walter, who with the help of his brother Gary (Jason Segel) and Gary’s girlfriend Mary (Amy Adams). Track down all the other Muppets for one more show to raise money to save their beloved theater.
One thing I can tell you to look forward to, is the Hip-hop song by Tex Richman (Chris Cooper), I guaranty if for anything watch the movie because of that.
Have you seen the Muppets yet or just reading this for pleasure? Go watch it and come back and tell me what you feel.
